Incheon Art Platform is located in Haean-dong in Jung-gu area in Incheon, a town with a rich history dating back to the 1883 open port era where architectural buildings dating from the 1930s - 1940s are well preserved as cultural assets. The area is recognized for the historic and architectural value due to the well preserved and technologically advanced modern construction evidenced in the structures. There are 13 buildings dating back to the 1930s and 1940s which have been renovated into creative art and design studios, reference/archival resource center, education and performance halls. IAP was created from the combined efforts of the city’s resolution and it’s citizens desire to maximize the city's historic and geographic characteristics to enhance cultural activities. This historic district will be expanded in the near future to include a vast “street museum,” with the IAP at the center. The expansion would re-interpret historical relevance applicable to the present while preserving the past.
