MOON Sohyun majored in sculpture at Kyung Hee University, and received an MFA from the Korea National University of Arts in Sculpture and Video Arts. Since 2006, the artist has continued to work on animation and video art projects using stop motion techniques. Some notable films of the artist include 〈Firework〉 (2018), 〈Life in the park〉 (2015–2016), 〈The Black Flesh in the Mouth〉 (2012), 〈Make It Vanish …Vanishes〉 (2009), and 〈Poisoning of Light〉 (2007). These works have been selected and screened at Bucheon International Animation Festival, Seoul International New Media Festival, Festival of 3 Continents of Nantes, Zagreb International Animation Festival, and furthermore, they have been shown in other various formats in spaces such as the Nam June Paik Art Center, Ilhyun Museum, and Space O’NEWWALL, and more.
Since 2006, the artist has been continuously working with stop motion techniques and puppet theater video works. Since 2016, her work developed into videos that reconstruct real landscapes and objects that have been photographed. In the more recent years she has been researching how miniature spaces in images can be dismantled and realized as a real stage. At the Incheon Art Platform, she will develop this method in a more concrete manner, and will develop the work in a way where new meanings are created on the stage of reality.
