PARK Soyoung

llsan, born 1971
• Term : Mar, 2019 - Jan, 2020
• soyoungpark006@gmail.com

PARK Soyoung studied Fine Arts at Universitaet der Kuenste and graduated with a Meisterschule under Professor Daniel Richter. The artist continues to work both in South Korea and Germany. She has expanded her work from the plane to three-dimensional structures on the theme of ‘time stratification’ where space and time are not continuous or linear, and are entangled. The artist expands contrasting motifs such as ‘eternity’ or ‘vanishing’ from the coincidence that arises in the interstices of objects that have heterogeneous histories of production. In other words, contradictory sensations and stories that reveal the meaning of space-time based on the reconfiguration of work collide with each other, and induce amplifications of reproduced energy.
During the residency, the artist will conduct a formative experiment by collecting materials that contain personal, social and cultural histories. It will function as an objective artwork, but at the same time, it is planned to be a new object in the time of the ‘present’. In addition, the artist is planning to create a wall installation that translates struggles of power including historical compliances, domination and oblivion into an abstract form, known an imaginary narrative.
