Milad MOZARI and Mitsu SALMON are a collaborative duo creating work in performance, sound, video, and installation which draw from archive, place and personal/ unaccounted history. The duo met while pursuing their Masters of Fine Arts at the School for the Art Institute of Chicago. Since 2017, they’ve created work together drawing from Milad’s interest in sound and architecture and Mitsu’s practice in performance and drawing from family histories and science. They have created site-responsive work at Tsung Yeh Artist Village and Taipei Artist Village in Taiwan, Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago and Sugar Space in Indianapolis.
Through the residency at Incheon Art Platform, They will create an installation of constructed artifacts from an imagined ancient town next to the Jemulpo Port. Speculating on Incheon as a place of transit from the airport to the port, the work will explore concepts of travel, trade, and modernization. Drawing from the local architecture, geology, and folktales, the imagined town will speak to the history of Haean-dong through both real and fabricated records, fossils, images, and objects.
