Vicente MOLLESTAD works across various mediums but usually related to processes of language/writing and gesture/painting. After finishing his MFA of Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam, Vicente returned to La Paz, Bolivia, where he currently lives and works. Within his artistic practice lies a recurring interest in themes surrounding transnationality and decolonization related to the personal and intimate.
At Incheon Art Platform, The artist will investigate the strange phenomenon of Korean second hand clothes being sold in Bolivia. Through the artistic process he wishes to address the gesture of import and export of these clothes, including the politics of the bodies that wears and consumes them. By using the clothes as a starting point for material experimentation he wants to work on transforming them into self-aware artistic objects, to be exhibited or performed in, before bringing them to Bolivia and put back into a cycle of commerce.
